Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch will be welcoming guests to the Knoxville Airshow and Family Festival in late September in a unique way.

Hatch is joining the Des Moines Skydivers Club for the first airshow and will skydive into the festivities to greet those in attendance. While he is nervous about jumping out of a plane for the show, Hatch says that he’s excited to help Knoxville Municipal Airport Manager Katie Shawver promote the city and airport.

“It’ll be exciting. What a huge event for Knoxville and the way she talks it’s just kind of a unique show. I think they’re going to have a lot of special things for people to see, some that you don’t get to see an air show very often it sounds like. So, I can’t wait for that to come. We want to support that. So, anything I can do, including jumping out of an airplane I guess, we’ll do that to help support that event because it is great for the community and great for the whole entire surrounding area.”

The Knoxville Airshow and Family Festival will be held on September 30th and the event will be free and open to the public.
