The second-seeded Pella Christian baseball team will make the short trip to Knoxville tonight for their Class 2A Substate 6 semifinal game against top-seeded Central Decatur.

Eight unanswered runs over the final three innings of their quarterfinal matchup propelled the Eagles past Centerville 8-2, while the Cardinals used a four run first inning to avoid an upset against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 6-4 Wednesday night. With each game threatening to be the last of the season, Pella Christian head coach Chris Fynaardt says tonight’s game will come down to which team takes care of the controllables better.

“Typically, when you get deeper into postseason, it’s just one little error that starts a rally. You just never know when that one play is going to be the play that ultimately ends your season. So, it’s whoever flinches first and maybe makes a untimely error or just any type of a miscue.”

The Class 2A Substate 6 semifinal game between Pella Christian and Central Decatur at Knoxville High School tonight begins at 7 p.m., and can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS beginning with pregame coverage at 6:45 p.m.
