The Knoxville High School baseball team is fundraising in an effort to help with the expenses of facilities upgrades.

The project would improve the fencing, backstop, and bleachers at the complex, while also upgrading the walkway to the field and making the facility more handicap accessible. According to Knoxville head baseball coach Turner DeVore, the fundraiser has raised about half of the $250,000 goal. DeVore says that they are still working to meet that goal and adds that he wants the fundraiser to be viewed as a partnership rather than a donation.

“We’re still trying to work on things. We’re still trying to come up with some new ideas, figure out ways that we can raise a little bit more money. But we’ve had a lot of people reach out and do some things to try to help out. So, we do appreciate all the support. We talk about how we don’t want this to be one of those things where we want businesses to give us money and that’s it. We want it to be an advertising thing for you. We’re going to put it out there for people. We’re going to show your logo at the field. We’re going to make sure that people know that you gave money to this project so that they feel good about it too.”
