The Knoxville School Board approved changes to the employee handbook for the 2023/2024 school year at their meeting Monday night.

The board also approved fundraising requests for football, golf, student senate, and FFA. They approved a preschool curriculum proposal and a resolution to direct the county commissioner of elections to call an election to submit the question of continued participation in the Instructional Support Program. 

The school board approved an proposal from Bluestone Engineering in the amount of $14,000 for a new scoreboard at Randy Wilson Track, and a quote for blacktop repairs at Northstar Elementary from Central Asphalt Paving Inc. in the amount of $18,409.50. They also approved a proposal from Impact7G for asbestos testing of the old Knoxville Middle School building in the amount of $9,150 and annual approvals. The school board also accepted the resignation of head softball coach Carla Smith effective immediately and hired Brenda Goodale as an elementary student services coordinator starting this school year. The board ended the meeting with a closed session to evaluate the professional competency of an individual.
