A former Pleasantville baseball player’s career will continue in Arizona following the second day of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft.
Kyle Amendt, a 2018 graduate, was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the ninth round of the draft with the 265th pick. As a Trojan, Amendt was a four-time letter winner and a two-time all-conference selection. He was named First Team All-Region in his freshman season at Southeastern Community College, after leading the NJCAA Division II in saves with 14. Following his two seasons at Southeastern Community College, Amendt continued his college baseball career at Dallas Baptist University.
In two seasons at Dallas Baptist, he posted a 1-2 record with 12 saves, a 3.09 ERA, and 62 strikeouts in 35 innings pitched.
