The Knoxville Police Department would like to remind drivers of crosswalk laws in the community.

The DOT’s Highway 14 crosswalk in Knoxville was installed in 2021. When lights are flashing, drivers are required to stop and allow pedestrians to cross. Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller wants to continue to bring awareness and remind citizens the police department has no tolerance for disobeying the crosswalk laws.

“We do patrol that area. We’ve written several citations and I can almost assure you that no warnings will be given for those violations.”

Violators may be fined $195 for not coming to a stop while pedestrians are using the crosswalk.
