Some of the best A-Mains of the season had fans out of their seats on Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway as Austin McCarl won the 410 show with Chase Randall making three straight 360 features as he won a dual with Gerrit Williamson as heard live on KNIA. McCarl was third behind his father Terry and Davey Heskin when a late race caution bunched the field. However, the race would not fully get restarted as two more yellows would halt the proceedings. On the 3rd and final try, McCarl drove by Heskin and took his first win at the Knoxville Raceway in 2023. The 360s had more money on the line in the Van Wall Equipment Marion County Fair 360 Shootout as 54 cars showed up to grab the $5,000 winner’s share. Chase Randall was battling with Williamson when Randall forced Williamson high out of turn four and swept by him on the white flag lap. Randall told KNIA/KRLS Sports with the big races upcoming, winning now is important for confidence.
Randall: “All the time and effort we put in and laps we made are worth it. We’re doing some racing on the road, and getting these wins here, helps keeps us going.”
The Pro Sprints did not run due to the high car count. They will be back next week as will the 410s and 360s on 3M Night.
