3D Drawing of proposed "Base +" plan for Pella Community Center
The Pella City Council will receive an update regarding the proposed Pella Community Center renovation at their meeting Tuesday. During policy and planning, representatives with Schemmer will provide details about results from a community survey and public meeting aimed to determine priorities for the project. The City of Pella is committing $5.5 million, with the Friends of the Pella Community Center planning to fundraise once a more firm commitment comes from the council.
The plan from Schemmer shows a proposed base bid would cost $4.325 million, which includes improved accessibility, exterior improvements, reopening of the legacy gymnasium, and updates to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection. A base bid “plus” plan could include a building addition on the southeast corner, with the addition of a certified kitchen and other interior remodeling. The cost estimate of those extra items has not been determined.
