A Knoxville man was arrested around midnight on Friday for an attempted assault on a police officer.

 

According to court records, at approximately 12:12am on Friday, officers were dispatched to 1101 Woodland Drive in Knoxville for a report of a subject who was possibly suicidal. Officers made contact with the resident who was identified as 39-year-old Joshua Brown of Knoxville. Brown was intoxicated, and admitted to officers he had used illegal narcotics. Brown was armed with a weapon directing an electric current and refused commands of the officers. After pepper spray was deployed, Brown attempted to use the weapon on the officers. Brown was then detained and transported for psychiatric help.

 

Brown is currently facing a charge of assault with a weapon on a police officer which is a class D felony. He is being held in the Marion County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
