The Knoxville City Council approved sign on bonuses for EMT and Paramedics at their meeting Monday night.
These bonuses will be no less than $2,000 for EMTs and no more than $5,000 for current certified paramedics hired by the Knoxville Fire Department. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says these bonuses will help with cost in the long run.
“Currently, we do have education incentives that help pay for paramedic school which can be up to a four year process and so providing a sign on bonus not only saves the city because they are already certified but also gives us a staffed paramedic on day one.”
These bonuses are dependent upon education, experience, and training.
