A Class of 2022 Pella High School graduate who died while training in the U.S. Army received a welcome home from his hometown Thursday. JT Atchison was escorted by local emergency responders and the U.S. military on his way to Garden Chapel Funeral Home, where his friends, family, and community lined Franklin and Main Streets to honor his sacrifice, with the City Band performing patriotic music. Atchison died from a medical emergency on July 12th. His classmates from high school, including Maggie Leach, Emily Carlo, and Maddy White, organized a GoFundMe to get a bench placed in Central Park to remember his life.
