Native Iowa author Linda McCann will be speaking at several Iowa libraries, including a stop in Knoxville next month.

She will be speaking about her book “Prohibition in Iowa” on August 21st at the Knoxville library, which is one of 14 books that she has published. McCann writes nonfiction Iowa history books about topics that aren’t always taught in schools. She wants to make sure this information is never lost.

McCann’s newest book, which hasn’t been released yet, is about Rosie the Riveter, but Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson says she will be speaking about a prohibition book that has already been published.

“Her newest book is about Rosie the Riveter but it’s not out yet and so that’s why we chose this topic for her to present for us. It will be very good because she is a very good speaker.”

The event starts at 1:30pm and is free to the public. McCann also will have stops in Monroe and Oskaloosa the following two days.
