A Knoxville man was arrested on drug charges Thursday evening.
According to court records, at approximately 7:50 pm on Thursday, Knoxville police conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of N Lincoln St for a driver not wearing a seatbelt. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer identified the driver as 74-year-old George Bloom of Knoxville.
During the stop the Bloom admitted to not wearing his seatbelt and then pushed a ziploc bag between the seat and the center counsel. After a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, a cotton ball, three syringes, and a spoon with white powder was located. The powder was tested and identified as methamphetamine.
Bloom was taken into custody and admitted to having more methamphetamine in his back pocket before he entered the jail. Bloom is charged with possession of a controlled substance third or subsequent offense, which is a class D felony. He is being held in the Marion County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
