An All-Star Showcase of some of Iowa’s best outgoing high school football players will once again feature several local athletes. The following KNIA/KRLS area football players will be heading to the 51st annual Shrine Bowl at the UNI Dome today at 4 p.m., all on the South team:
Trey Van Hauen, Pella
Isaac Kacmarynski, Pella Christian
Jack Fancher, Pella Christian
Bennett Brueck, Indianola
Maddux Borcherding-Johnson, Norwalk
Mack Jorth, Pleasantville (assistant coach)
Additionally, the Pleasantville Dance Team performs and some local officials will be at the game.
The group was recognized for their selections by the Za-Ga-Zig Shriners in Altoona this past spring. In addition to the All-Star showcase, the game also serves as a fundraiser to benefit Shriners’ Children Hospital and its mission to provide pediatric care anywhere, regardless of the families’ ability to pay, including orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate.
