The Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden located next to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics has partnered with local kindergarteners for a storyboard project.
The garden was founded in 1994 and is named after long term care patient Bessie Spaur, who was able to watch the garden grow during her stay at the hospital.. When she passed away at 101-years-old, her family donated her memorial money to the garden.
It is sponsored and maintained by the Knoxville Federated Garden Club. New developments and projects continue to be done in the garden including new storyboards with artwork by local Kindergarteners.
Knoxville Federated Garden Club Member Sherrilyn Nikkel says it was fun to partner with the Kindergarteners in Knoxville for these storyboards.
“They came and they had a piece of white paper, and they made their vision of what would grow in their garden and so we had all kinds of ideas from them.”
