Continuing our countdown of the top 10 moments at Central College during the 2022-23 school year, our #9 spot was an effort that matched the milestone for women’s basketball senior Kelsea Hurley.

In a 94-89 double overtime defeat at Luther College on Saturday, January 14th, Hurley rained in a career-high 32 points and became the 13th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career. Hurley became the first Dutch player to do so since Laura Porter in 2009. With Central trailing 81-76 and just 10 seconds left in the first overtime, Hurley coolly knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to tie the game at 82-82 to force a second extra period where the Dutch ultimately fell.

Hurley connected on 13 of her 26 shots in the game and also pulled down 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season and fourth of her career. Hurley buried a 15-foot jumper with 4:15 left in regulation to eclipse 1,000 career points and finished the game with 1,018. She reached the milestone in just 73 games as the 2020-21 season was limited to just 10 contests due to the global pandemic.

Hurley finished her career as the tenth highest scorer in program history, recording 1,141 points in 83 games.
