Continuing with our top ten moments for Knoxville this past school year…we go back to January 3rd. After a long nearly two week break, the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad was looking to start the 2023 portion of the season with a signature win, and the Panthers got it with an upset win over then class 2A #7 and unbeaten Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 63-57. The Panthers jumped out to a 14-8 lead after the first quarter, but the Rockets outscored Knoxville 33-21 in the middle two quarters to take a 41-35 lead heading into the 4th quarter. It was all Knoxville in the 4th as the Panthers erupted for 28 points and outscored Eddyville 28-16.

Jay Kellar had one of his best games of the season scoring 19 points, leading four Panthers in double figures. Knoxville hit on 10/13 free throws to salt the game away. Knoxville also took over 1st place in the South Central Conference that night, the Panthers would ultimately finish in 2nd place with an 11-10 record.
