Counting down the top moments of the 2022-23 year for Indianola High School continuing with #8.

For four straight years, dating all the way back to her freshman season, Emily Naughton qualified to the Class 4A State Cross Country meet. Naughton’s best finish was in 2020 when she placed 19th with a time of 19:27, but Naughton said the career achievement was nice, and her mentality going into her last meet was to just have fun.

“Just go out strong, try and do better than my past years, and try to have the mentality that this is my last one ever, I just have to enjoy it.”

Naughton also qualified to the state track meet for three straight years, with the 2020 meet canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
