Knoxville will be opening up two cooling shelters starting today as part of their heat plan activation.

 

With temperatures expected to be in the upper 90s along with high heat index values, the shelters will be open through Friday of this week. The cooling shelters will be at the library and rec center during their normal hours of operation.

 

Knoxville Rec and Knoxville Fire Department will also be sponsoring a “Beat the Heat”

event for all children Thursday from 11:30AM-1PM at the Knoxville Rec Center.
