Iowa State University President Wendy Wintersteen paid a visit to the Marion County Extension office yesterday.
The president is spending time visiting Iowa State extension and outreach offices to learn what is happening in local areas. Her visit to Marion County included a casual open forum for her to hear updates on different things happening locally. It also gave individuals a chance to ask her any questions they might have about the extension offices partnership with the university.
Wintersteen said it’s very important for her to be out in the state to hear from community members who are engaged with extension.
“We want to make sure we’re connecting the university with all corners of the state. That we’re bringing what we learn through our research programs, through our engagement with our students, our economic development activities. That those really are getting to the corners of the state but we’re also hearing back from communities all over the state about what their needs are and how university resources can help serve them.”
There is an extension office located in all 99 Iowa counties.
