We head back to Melcher-Dallas for our #7 sports story of the school year for our area schools. It has been a while since the Melcher-Dallas Girls basketball Squad was competitive in basketball, in fact, the Saints had only finished with double digit wins twice in the last decade. This past season, after an 0-4 start, the Saints picked up steam and finished the season with a 13-11 record notching their first winning season since the 2008/2009 season when they went 14-8. January was when Melcher-Dallas did most of its damage going 8-6 including avenging a loss to rival Twin Cedars. After losing to the Sabers in the Bluegrass Conference semifinals, the Saints defeated Twin Cedars just five days later. Another highlight was defeating Mormon Trail in the conference tournament six days after losing to the other Saints in the regular season, and defeating Mormon Trail in the first round of the class 1A regional. Melcher-Dallas also finished 6th in the conference regular season standings with a 6-5 record.
