As we take a weekend break from our top ten sports moments countdown for our area schools. We take today to highlight out honorable mentions that did not quite make the top ten lists. For Knoxville, on February 1st, Football Coach Matt Dunkin held a middle school event for students who would be freshmen this coming fall. He called it the first ever Middle School Signing Day and 28 middle schoolers signed a contract that they would commit to football for their freshmen year. Also on the honorable mention was the Knoxville Volleyball Squad’s season. Being ranked all season, the Panthers made a run to the class 4A regional final against Marion. That run included an epic win over Red Rock Rival Pella to move on to the finals. Knoxville would fall to Marion in that regional final 3-0. We will resume our top ten countdown on Monday with #5 for Knoxville.
