The second mural of the year in Knoxville was unveiled to the public on Wednesday evening.
A white sheet was pulled down to unveil the mural at a public ceremony. The mural project is part of the “Love Where You Live Campaign,” which is a passion project sparked by love for the community and the desire to make Knoxville the best place it can be. The project, which was coordinated by local realtor Hannah Vander Veer and was donated by People’s Bank, is the second mural completed this year by local artist Amber Klootwyk.
Thrive Knoxville also assisted with the logistics of the mural, which is located on the building at 629 W Pleasant Street in Knoxville. The space was donated by Jim and Brenda Sperr. The first mural is located at Auld Park and was unveiled at the end of May. Project Coordinator Hannah Vander Veer said this project was a way to provide visual positivity in the community.
“We really wanted to focus on areas that maybe don’t get a ton of attention or are pretty plain just to provide some nice artwork and some visual positivity there so it’s been great to work with a lot of organizations on this. Everyone has been super collaborative, super positive and encouraging.”
The mural is a display of many different Knoxville landmarks.
