The Knoxville Police Department wants to remind citizens and anyone coming to the area during the Knoxville Nationals that golf carts are not to be driven on sidewalks.
The Knoxville Nationals will be underway in just over a week. With the Nationals going on, there is a large influx of people who come to the Sprint Car Capital of the World for the races and there are important safety issues that need to be addressed.
One of those being golf carts, which can be seen frequently in the town. Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller wants people to understand that golf carts are not to be driven on sidewalks.
“Nowhere in the United States that I’m aware of can you operate a golf cart on a sidewalk. That is one of my biggest pet peeves. If you have a golf cart, make sure that you know where you can and where you can’t drive it and make sure that you know when you can and when you can’t drive it. Sun up to sun down and not on the highway. You can cross the highway but you can’t travel up and down it.”
