A surge to the finish line got the Pella girls track and field team back to the trophy stand at the state meet this year and to No. 4 on the countdown of top moments from the 2022-23 school year. Pella trailed several runners on the final lap of the 4×400 relay — after a weekend in which they had several personal records and season bests, with a tight battle for 3rd place on the line heading into the finals. The Dutch relied heavily on Jacie Trine for their special weekend; the junior placed 4th in the 200 meters, 2nd in the 400 meters, and 4th in the sprint medley relay. Trine passed several competitors on the backstretch of 4×400 relay on the Blue Oval to get the Pella girls back on the trophy stande for the first time since their 2018 championship. Pella had top finishes from Marissa Ferebee (1500m – 2nd; 3000m – 3rd), the sprint medley and 4×200 (4th and 6th), and the 4×800 relay. Among the scoring Dutch athletes in those relays were Marissa Hackman, Delanie Reynolds, Kamryn Long, Kelsey Tauke, Macy Schroeder, Abby Teagarden, and Lizzie Neumann.
