Our countdown of the top 10 sports stories at PCM High School during the 2022-2023 school year continues with #3, and takes us to the State Track and Field Meet at Drake Stadium.
Kicking off the finishes from the Mustangs for our #3 moment was senior Rylee Gallaher on Thursday, May 18th. One year after finishing in 17th place in her first State Meet appearance, Gallaher brought home an 11th place finish in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, 1 inch. Later that day, the Mustangs girl’s shuttle hurdle relay team of Tori Lindsay, Jorja Teeter, Lillian Humpal, and Morgan Karr took 20th place with a time of 1:11.55.
On Friday, May 19th, the PCM boys track and field team had their first placement of the State Meet in the 4×200 meter relay. The quartet of Gavin Fenton, Gabe Hobbs, Griffin Olson, and Evan Jones posted a time of 1:31.34 to finish in 8th place and claimed a point for the Mustangs in the meet. The PCM boys finished with more than just that one point in the meet, but more on that later in the countdown.
