Two longtime basketball coaches at PCM have decided to retire during the summer. The Newton Daily News reports Fred Lorensen and Joel Grier have decided to end their nearly 40 year careers at the helm of the boys basketball program. A retirement reception will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Gateway Recreation Course in Monroe. The duo won over 600 games in Lorensen’s head coaching tenure that predates the combination between Prairie City and Monroe, including the 2004 state 2A championship.
