Aaron Reutzel kept his hot string alive on night one of the Xtreme powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals last night as heard on KNIA. Reutzel had to work a little harder than usual to get the win as he and everyone was chasing Colby Copeland for the first 14 laps as Copeland set a torrid pace. But after a restart from a yellow Reutzel found the way around and was never headed the rest of the way. Reutzel almost lost it all as he and runner-up Sam Hafertepe Jr battled the last five laps and nearly sent Reutzel into the wall in turn four. He said in victory lane it was all he could do to keep the car on the right line.
Reutzel: “My car was great and I could run off his right rear, and could get there every time. Almost wrecked the thing over there, and he slid up and jumped and almost crashed.”
Reutzel has the overall points lead after night one with 483 points. He is followed by Kelby Watt, Ryan Timms, Kaleb Johnson and Tanner Holmes in the top five. Tonight the second half of the field will run and after tonight the top 20 in points will be locked into Saturday’s final A-Main. Listen to all the action starting with Live Track Side at 5:00 and Race Nights Live at 7:00 on the DeYarman Automotive Radio Racing Network on KNIA.
