Counting down the top moments of the 2022-23 year for Indianola High School continuing with #1. Bowling for Des Moines Lincoln, Indianola sophomore Vicki Andrews earned a spot at the class 3A state individual tournament, and qualified to the bracket stage earning the second seed with a pin total of 708 after three rounds. Andrews had a close first round matchup, winning 248-244, then advanced to the finals with a 234-178 victory, before taking home the gold with a 245-193 win over the #1 seed. She said after the victory and since she is just a sophomore, the goal doesn’t change.
“My coach said to me after I won, alright two more years to repeat! He wants me to be a three-peat champion, back-to-back-to-back. Which would mean the world, it would be like I’m on top of the world, and no one could bring me down.”
Andrews also placed third in her freshman season.
