A traditional Dutch children’s festival is returning to Pella Historical Museums. Kermis will be held at the Pella Historical Village on Saturday, August 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes games, prizes, food, and other fun, with admission costing $1 and children four and under getting in for free. Society members and students living in the Pella Community School District also have free entry.

Pella Historical Museums will also be showing a taste of the community from years past at a screening this weekend. Film found by Scott Vanden Berg from the 1930s and 1960s will be showing this Sunday at the Pella Cinemas at noon. The free-admission =event will also feature local historian Bruce Boertje discussing the history of theaters in Pella, as well as background on Oscar Benson, the proprietor of the Pella Theatre at the time “Our Own Gang Comedy” was filmed.
