In the finals, The Mustangs relay squad ran a season best time of 1:00.46 to narrowly edge the Falcons’ time of 1:00.48 and win the State Championship. While winning the title wasn’t the expectation, the four Mustangs were thrilled to bring home the top spot in the event.

Olson: “It means a lot. I mean, we weren’t really expecting gold but when we made the finals, that’s all we wanted.”

Robbins: “It means a lot. This team’s put in so much work over the season, and I’m just really proud of my teammates.”

VanGorp: “I know when we got second on Thursday we’re gonna have a really good chance and we came out around even better we did Thursday so it’s really great feeling.”

Fenton: “Yeah, coming in we all knew we had a good shot, we really just wanted a PR. And me as a senior, this is the best way I can go out.”

While Fenton graduates as a State Champion, Olson, Robbins, and Van Gorp will look to repeat their Championship effort at the Blue Oval this upcoming season.
