Pella Regional Health Center announced that Torie Alexander, BSN, in Obstetrics is the recipient of the quarterly DAISY Award. The DAISY program is a national award, given at the local level, to registered nurses who exemplify extraordinary nursing. The focus is on the special touches and human consideration these nurses give to their patients.
Excerpt from Torie’s nomination by Shay Coffin:
“Pella Regional’s Family Birthing Center is lucky to have a nurse like Torie on their team. I recently delivered a healthy little boy in June. Torie played a big role in the success of my delivery after being in labor for some time. Torie listened when I expressed to her how I was feeling and took action quickly with multiple ideas on how I could help myself be more comfortable and progress my labor in the process. She always checked on us very consistently and made sure we had everything we needed.”
Alexander received a certificate that reads: “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.” She was also given a sculpture called A Healer’s Touch, hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.
