With a majority of the roster set to return this fall, the Norwalk volleyball team is looking to build on a 24-win season and a share of last year’s Little Hawkeye Conference title.
The Warriors finished 2022 with an overall record of 24-11 and a conference mark of 6-1, tying Indianola for first place. They also advanced to a second straight Class 4A regional final under first-year head coach John Fulton, achieving the program’s highest win total since 2016 and claiming a share of their first league title since 2015.
Norwalk looks to take another step forward this season, which opens August 22 at Bondurant-Farrar. The Warriors will challenge themselves with a demanding non-conference schedule that includes tournaments or quads at Southeast Polk, Ankeny Centennial, ADM, Waukee, Nevada and Winterset.
The team graduated only two seniors off last year’s squad in Samantha Aagard and Kelsey Dammeier. Returning stat leaders include senior outside hitter Noelle Sutcliffe, who tied a single-season school record with 363 kills last fall while establishing a new record with 3.86 kills per set. Senior libero Grace Dehmer totaled 431 digs and junior Liz Iverson set 742 assists.
