The 2023 football season is just around the corner, and the Pella Christian football team will look much different than they did just a season ago.
While the Eagles return a decent number of players to the squad this year, they will be filling several starting positions following the graduation of 16 seniors. When Pella Christian takes the field in week one, they will do so with new starters at the quarterback, wide receiver, offensive line, and defensive back positions. Additionally, the Eagles will have two new defensive linemen, two linebackers, and a new kicker. Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski says that while they will have several new starters this season, he’s been encouraged by what he has seen from both returning players and newcomers during preseason camp.
“We have great quality in this senior class. And then our other classes, our juniors, they came back another year older, stronger, and faster. Our sophomores really probably made the biggest jump. I’m really excited about our sophomores and the progress they’ve made. We also have a nice freshman class. We have 15 freshmen, so we’re really excited about our numbers there and they show great promise as well.”
The Eagles begin the season on the road at Des Moines Christian on Friday, August 25th.
