Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center closes to the public after the swim period on Sunday, which brings with it an annual tradition held since 2008, the Cardboard Boat Races. Kathy Kester with Indianola Parks and Rec tells KNIA News participants build boats using only cardboard and duct tape, then try to navigate them across the pool. The Aquatic Center will be open for swimming from 1-3pm, then close briefly before the races begin at 3:30. Admission to the races is free for both spectators and participants.
