With all facilities in the Pella Community School District now fully air conditioned, early dismissals due to heat are not anticipated. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says with the completion of HVAC upgrades to Pella High School last academic year, all buildings in the district have widespread access to cool air on hot days. Despite the forecast for heat index values above 100 degrees, Ebeling says barring a malfunction of units, he doesn’t plan to dismiss classes early. However, Ebeling says outdoor activities could still be impacted by the heat wave, and that the activities department and coaches or directors will facilitate and communicate those changes.
