The Marion County Road Department is preparing for winter weather despite soaring temperatures now.
Marion County could see record high temperatures this week, but winter is still on the minds of those working for the county road department. The road department has recently taken in their last shipment of salt for their storage sheds so they will be prepared for when icy roads come.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says final preparations are ongoing.
“We are taking the last deliveries of our new equipment that we’ve purchased in preparation for winter so we will be prepared here going into September for winter. Other than mounting up all the snowplows and testing the hydraulics we are ready to go. Not something we look forward to but we’ll be ready.”
The first snowfall of the season for Marion County last year was on November 12th.
