The candidate filing period for city and school elections will start on Monday.
The 2023 elections are right around the corner and the Marion County Auditor’s office is preparing for candidates to start putting their hats in the ring for a chance to be elected to a public office.
The candidate filing period will last from Monday, August 28th through Thursday, September 21st. The filing officer for city candidates is with the Marion County Auditor and for school candidates is with school secretaries.
Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia says a certain number of signatures are required when filing for candidacy.
“No candidate in Marion County will need more than 50 signatures. I would highly recommend getting more than that in case somebody doesn’t happen to live in that county or something but definitely want to get more than what’s required.”
