Fall sports at Pella Christian begin tonight as the Eagles football team heads to rival Des Moines Christian for the season opener.

Pella Christian has had their way in the series over the last five meetings, going 4-1 and outscoring the Lions 270-86 since 2016. Despite their recent success, the Eagles are expecting a hard fought game among two teams that feature a lot of new faces. One familiar face the Eagles will see tonight is Des Moines Christian senior quarterback Tate Platte, who completed 57% of his passes against P.C last season for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Knowing his defense will be tested by the senior signal caller, Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski believes his offense may be the best way to limit Platte’s effect on the game.

“I think it starts offensively. I think we need to possess the football I think we need to drive the ball, I think we need to keep the ball. Tonight, maybe the best defense is a good offense, so I think we need to keep the ball out of his hands. I think we to win the kicking game and make him have to go a long ways.”

Coverage of Pella Christian football at Des Moines Christian tonight can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS with Tyler Crabb, and J.D. Boer calling all the action beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
