The Pleasantville Trojan Football Team will kick off their season tonight by traveling to Truro to square off against the Interstate 35 Roadrunners.

The Trojans finished last year with a 4-5 overall record in a season that ended with an early playoff loss to Van Meter.

A new day has dawned for Pleasantville Football and quarterback Ryder Thill alongside running back Caleb Cook, and tight end Dayson Leerhoff are looking to take the offense to a new level this season.

The Trojans are bringing back a large number of experienced starters on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, which has Pleasantville football fans wondering if this could be the year for the team to really turn a corner.

Head Football Coach Mack Jorth is entering his sixth season at Pleasantville and says there’s great benefit from the experience he has on his team.

“Having a lot of guys back is very helpful and you hope to lean on that a little bit. Help the other guys learn and come along because we also have a lot of young guys that are going to step in and contribute in very meaningful ways so those experienced guys can really hopefully help those young guys understand what’s needed of them, and how to approach it, and what to prepare for, and what to expect.”

Interstate 35 finished last season with a 3-6 overall record and were defeated by the Trojans 27-14 in week two.
