Several area residents enjoyed success at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Brenda Klyn of Pella was successful in several categories, including:
H&R Block Logo Cookie Contest – 1st
Other Holiday Cookie Plate in the Holiday Cookie Exchange – 2nd
Amateur Sweet Structures – 2nd
St. Patrick’s Day Treats – 3rd

Steve Hatch, Knoxville and Ginny Kingrey, Knoxville won Class B in the Doubles Horseshoe Pitching Contest. Ava Sinnott of Pella was 3rd in the same category. Bert Logsdon of Pleasantville won the Iowa State Elders Championship division of the Horseshoe contest.

Taryn Peffers with the Pella FFA chapter won several categories in the Youth Dairy Goat Show, leading to a 2nd place finish for the chapter overall at the event.

Twyla Van Wyk of Monroe won Presidents’ Choice in the Fabric and Threads Competition. Keri Crowley of Indianola won Best Quilt Exhibited by a Warren County resident in Quilting and Mary Ross of Pella won Best Handspun Yarn.

Diane Shaw of Pella earned 2nd place in the Key Lime Dessert Creations and the Ulrich Pella Bologna Soup or Chowder competitions.

Marc Vandonselaar was 2nd in the longest beard category of the Winning Whiskers competition
