The outgoing director of Pella Historical Museums was celebrated for her time with the non-profit organization. A farewell reception was held following the annual membership meeting Tuesday to thank Valerie Van Kooten for her seven years of service. Van Kooten started with the non-profit organization in 2016 and has overseen several major initiatives during her tenure, including the creation of the Scholte Gardens, renovations at the Wyatt Earp Home and Scholte House, and the return of Tulip Time following its cancellation in 2020.
