The candidate filing period for city and school elections will start today.

The 2023 elections are right around the corner and the Marion County Auditor’s office is preparing for candidates to start putting their hats in the ring for a chance to be elected to a public office.

The candidate filing period will last through Thursday, September 21st. The filing officer for city candidates is with the Marion County Auditor and for school candidates is with school secretaries. 

Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia talked about the positions you can file for.

“Candidates that want to run for city council or mayor potentially and school board positions that are open can file in our office or with their prospective schools starting August 28th through September 21.”
