The 4A #9 Knoxville Volleyball Squad took care of business in its home and South Central Conference opener on Tuesday night sweeping Albia in three sets 25-12, 25-19, and 25-19. The Panthers largely cruised through the 1st set, but found it tougher in the 2nd and 3rd sets as Albia clawed back to within one point on several occasions but the Panthers reset everything and pulled away. Senior Player Ella Breazeale tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they made adjustments on the fly without calling timeouts.
Breazeale: “Basically they weren’t doing anything too special to us, we were just making our own errors and it was just taking us time to get back in the groove.”
Breazeale had nine kills on the night, Brittany Bacorn led the Panthers with 11 kills, which puts her 25 away from the all-time kills record at Knoxville. Bacorn also finished with 13 assists, seven ace serves and nine digs. Hannah Dunkin had 14 assists and was perfect behind the serve line in 11 attempts with two aces and Abbie Keitges was 17/18 with four aces and eight digs. Knoxville is now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the South Central Conference. The Panthers will play at the Atlantic Invitational on Saturday.
