An Iowa Court of Appeals has denied an appeal from Chad Bennett and his attorney.

Chad Bennett challenged the sufficiency of the evidence supporting his convictions for stalking, conspiracy to commit stalking, tampering with a witness, and conspiracy to commit tampering with a witness. He also claimed the presiding judge should have recused herself.

Bennett was found guilty in June of three counts of second degree sexual abuse, which stem from him sexually assaulting a young girl in June of 2020. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison. Bennett was also found guilty on the charges that he was appealing which are related to the sexual abuse case.

The Court of Appeals final opinion stated that Bennett’s conviction on all four crimes were supported by substantial evidence.

Bennett was already serving prison time on the four charges he was appealing before being sentenced for sexual abuse in the second degree.
