The PCM volleyball team picked up their second Heart of Iowa Conference win of the season Thursday night, sweeping Saydel on the road 3-0.
The Mustangs started off slow in the match, but picked things up to down the Eagles in the first set 25-14. The second set was all PCM as they ran away with it for a 25-11 win. The Mustangs finished off the sweep in set three with a 25-16 victory. Rebecca De Vries led the Mustangs with nine kills on the night while Eliana Buswell dished out 17 assists. PCM head coach Sarah De Vries said that her team’s experience has helped them through some slumps over the first two weeks.
“It’s really good. I mean we’ve had a lot of hours on the court so far. That was our 13th match and so we’ve had a lot of experience on the court early in the season and so that really helps to give them confidence that even when we do get in those slumps they know we can come out of it. It’s just a matter of fighting for it.”
The Mustangs improved to 7-6 overall on the season and 2-0 in conference action. PCM will look to maintain their unbeaten start in league play on Tuesday, when they travel to Perry.
