The Pleasantville football team moves to 2-0 on the season after a 28-14 victory over Woodward-Granger Friday night.
In the first quarter the Hawks defense kept Pleasantville running back Caleb Cook in check so the Trojans went to the air and Ryder Thill hit Yusef Gully for a touchdown on the first drive.
In the second quarter Thill threw another touchdown pass, this time to Caleb Cook. Cook would score two more times in the game with a rushing touchdown in the third quarter and a receiving touchdown in the fourth. Cook now has eight touchdowns through two games.
The Trojans defense came up with three interceptions on the night and held the Hawks to 14 points. Dayson Leerhoff also played a great game at the tight end position making several acrobatic catches.
Pleasantville Head Coach Mack Jorth talked about how his team stepped up tonight against a good team.
“Different guys stepped up big. I think Ryder Thill did an awesome job. We had receivers making plays. Cook found a way to make plays out in space instead because they were shutting him down inside so much. The thing I like the most about our offensive football is at the end of the game we needed to run that clock and we just ran six minutes off the clock. Run it down their throat after we had a lot of trouble early on so that says a lot about the character of our team.”
Pleasantville will Host Lynnville-Sully next Friday.
