The Knoxville Community School district is in desperate need of school bus drivers.

Knoxville schools entered back into session last week and one of the most important parts of the day is making sure kids can properly get to and from school. This has been an issue in Knoxville so far this year due in part to a severe driver shortage.

The school district had to make the difficult decision that they would not be transporting middle school and high school students this year due to the driver shortage. KCSD Business Manager Criag Mobley says the search is ongoing to find drivers to fill their vacancies.

“We are desperately looking anywhere and everywhere for some full time drivers. We do have a few possibilities, a few candidates. Unfortunately it’s not a quick solution because it is an extensive and timely process to get properly licensed and everything to be able to drive a school bus.”
