The class 4A #10 Knoxville Volleyball Squad went 2-2 at the Atlantic Invitational on Saturday falling to the two ranked teams in class 1A #8t Council Bluffs St. Albert in three sets, and class 2A #7 Treynor in two sets. The Panthers defeated Grandview Christian in two sets and the host Trojans in two sets. During the day, Panther senior Brittany Bacorn broke the school record for the most career kills as she passed former Panther Katie Keitges. Bacorn needed 25 to set the record and she ended up with 27 on the day along with 27 assists. Hannah Dunkin had the most helpers of anyone with 37 and 16 kills, while Payton Horn delivered 17 kills and Abbie Keitges went 48/50 serving with nine aces. Coach Mollie Keitges tells KNIA/KRLS she has been impressed with the girls business-like approach to matches,but wants a little more excitement when something good happens.

Keitges: “I would like our highs to be a little bit higher. At scrimmages earlier in the summer, we were so even keel. I appreciate the business-like approach, but they need to pull that excitement out just a little more.”

Keitges adds it is a fine line to bring out the excitement in the girls but still keep the business approach. Knoxville is now 5-3 on the season and will host Davis County on Tuesday in an important South Central Conference match.
