Indianola Parks and Rec is featuring another program as part of their Afternoon Adventures Speaker Series in September, Iowa during the Civil War. Jamie Steffen with Indianola Parks and Rec tells KNIA News historian and storyteller Dave Baker will perform a first-person portrayal of George Cruikshank, an Iowa soldier stationed at Fort Monroe during the Civil War. Baker has been touring Iowa since 2016, giving presentations on ghost towns, the Civil War, cities, railroads, and interesting people. He is the one-man show behind “The 29th State” and has taken over 20,000 photos of Iowa’s sites, buildings, and landmarks. The program will be on Tuesday, September 12th at the Indianola Activity Center beginning at 2pm.
